Red Lobster adds Dungeness, Southern King crab to its menu for Crabfest

Foodservice chain Red Lobster has reintroduced its Crabfest promotion for another year, offering a wide variety of wild-caught crab to consumers, including new selections such as Dungeness crab and Southern King crab.

Among the new dishes offered specially for the limited-time campaign are Dueling Crab Legs, which pairs Pacific Northwest Dungeness and Snow crab legs, as well as the Southern King Crab Leg Dinner, the Wild-Caught Snow Crab Legs, Crab Cakes and Crab-Oscar Salmon, Crabfest’s Ultimate Surf & Turf, and the Shrimp-Topped Crab Cake Dinner. Popular dishes such as the Crab Lover’s Dream, the Ultimate Feast, and Crab Linguini Alfredo are also making their way back to the Red Lobster menu in honor of the Crabfest promotion.

“Crab is one of the most craveable seafoods, which explains why our guests love Crabfest. We’re excited about the variety of flavors and types of crabs we are offering this year as well as the different culinary preparations,” said Dustin Hilinski, executive chef and director for culinary at Red Lobster. “Crab legs and crab cakes are always great choices, but crab is also delicious as an ingredient in a dip, sandwich or pasta, or as a topping on steak or salmon. During Crabfest, guests can really have it any way they want.”

All dishes are available while seafood supplies last, according to the Red Lobster website. The company kicked off Crabfest with its “Now This Is Seafood” advertising campaign – a promotion using a “multisensory, multi-frame approach that communicates craveability in a new way” by swapping out the traditional voiceover with music “to orchestrate the sounds of the kitchen and restaurant, coupled with fast-paced, multi-frame visuals that show the food from preparation to plate,” according to Red Lobster.

Guests of the 700-plus location restaurant franchise are encouraged to share their Crabfest dining experiences online with the company’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts.
